iFilm is a nonprofit workforce development program dedicated to preparing aspiring filmmakers for careers in Cleveland’s growing film industry.
In partnership with Studio Zero Media, we combine hands-on training with mentorship from industry professionals to give students the tools, skills, and connections they need to succeed.

PRODUCTION & SET OPERATION
PROJECT: THE FUNDAMENTALS
LESSONS: 6 WEEK COURSE
A beginner-friendly introduction to the core skills every filmmaker needs. This course teaches students how to transform ideas into compelling visual stories while building confidence with industry-standard tools and techniques.
WHAT WE’LL COVER:
Storytelling & script development basics
Camera operation, framing, and visual composition
Lighting and sound fundamentals
Introduction to editing workflows
Hands-on practice with real equipment
Guided mini-projects to build your first portfolio pieces

FILMMAKING FUNDAMENTALS
PROJECT: ON SET
LESSONS: 6 WEEK COURSE
A practical, on-set training experience that prepares students for real-world film and media work. Learn how professional productions run from start to finish—then step onto set and apply your skills.
WHAT WE’LL COVER:
Set roles, responsibilities, and workflow
Production planning, shot lists, & call sheets
Working with directors, crew, and talent
Technical training with cameras, lights, and audio gear
Safety, communication, and set etiquette
Participation in live productions with Studio Zero Media
